Clean Needles Now

In the early 1990s with the AIDS pandemic growing within the IV drug using population, a group of ActUp members broke away to start an underground needle exchange program. While Clean Needles Now worked as an advocacy group for the IV drug using population our main concern was providing cleaning kits and new clean paraphernalia to stem the tide of the pandemic. These images are of the very first exchange (June 30, 1992), other exchanges that year, the building of cleaning kits, and numbering of syringes for anonymous testing.
