Calaveras Workshops

Self Help Graphics and Art is a nonprofit community arts space in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. Each year they open their facility on weekends in October for community workshops on making calaveras, papel picado banners, etc, for the Dia de los Muertos celebrations in the beginning of November. In 2019 I attended each weekend, photographed the attendees and gave out 4x6 prints. The images were also uploaded to Self Help Graphics for use in promotional material and social media.

In 2019, I was joined one day by a student, Marina Lluch, and when I returned in 2023, post Covid lockdowns, Alejandra Cordero worked with me. The photos below are a mixture of work by the three of us.
