The Future Generations Teen Photojournalism Project
In 2006 I started this project as part of the 300 Miles to Wounded Knee work in order to support the voices of reservation youth. Over the course of the project I worked one-on-one with 21 teens, preteens, and young adults from the Standing Rock, Cheyenne River, and Oglala Sioux Tribes, providing equipment, instruction, and access. Their videos have been featured in the Heritage Film Festival, and the Echo Park Film Center Shorts Festival. Still photos and videos by teens from Standing Rock and Cheyenne River have been exhibited in China, Korea, the Czech Republic, and the US, and an exhibition of their work ran for two years at the MACHmit! Museum in Berlin, Germany.
